The Centennial Arboretum is a 27-acre arboretum at the southeast corner of Belmont and Montgomery Drives in the Fairmount area of Philadelphia. It’s open daily and free. Bring a picnic even!
The arboretum features trees, shrubs, ponds, an evergreen collection, a Japanese maple collection, sculptures, and many plants, including perennials, herbs, and vegetables. Even a butterfly garden.
Many were planted in 1876 for the American Centennial Exposition (aka America’s first world fair).
